654 bottles of illegal codeine cough syrup seized

Kohima: One person has been arrested by the Kohima police on Tuesday after a highway patrolling team recovered 654 bottles of illegal Codeine cough syrup at Peducha.

The police team, at around 9.30 pm intercepted an unregistered white Gypsy while conducting routine checking at Peducha and made a seizure of the illegal codeine cough syrups.

An official information from the Kohima Police PRO said that one person has been arrested. The person is identified as Lichithung Kithan, son of Yankho Kithan, a native of Yikhum village and present address at Etsutchukha Colony, Wokha.

The illegal drugs along with the vehicle has also been seized by the police. A case has been registered at Sechü (Zubza) Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act for further investigation, it informed.
