Kohima: A day after the students sent 50,000 emails to top government officials protesting over the state government’s failure in setting up an inquiry commission to probe into utilization of funds at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) in Zunheboto, the digital protest has been temporarily suspended.

The All Nagaland College Students ‘Union (ANCSU) through its assistant general secretary Inagha Kinny and information and publicity secretary Aochuba P Jamir informed that the union has decided to halt the ongoing digital protest till Wednesday due to the demise of the minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change CM Chang.

The student body said that it acknowledged the unceasing effort and participation of everyone in the digital protest called by ANCSU for the inaction of the state government on the issue of appointing inquiry commission for fund utilization Khelhoshe Polytechnic, Atoizu.

It said that the Union is deeply saddened and affected by the demise of Chang and mourn his demise. It implored the almighty to grant peace and solace to his family and dear ones during this time of grief and mourning.

As a mark of respect and admiration and also due to the declaration of state mourning declared by the state government, it said that the union has decided to halt the ongoing digital protest till Wednesday.

The remaining action of protest will continue on October 15, and will get intensified until the demand of the union is fulfilled, it informed.

Meanwhile as reported earlier, on the first day of their digital protest on Monday, students across the state sent 50,000 emails to top government officials expressing their resentment towards the “lackadaisical” response of the state government.

ANCSU president Vimeyiekho Vitso had said that by Wednesday, it aims to target one million emails to clog inboxes of top officials.
