India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out from the rest of the Indian Premier League 2020, after he sustained a thigh injury in the game against Chennai Super Kings while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 2.

Sunrisers Hyderabad took to Twitter to confirm the same. “Bhuvneshwar Kumar is ruled out of #Dream11IPL 2020 due to injury. We wish him a speedy recovery!”, the franchise tweeted

In the 19th over of the Super Kings’ chase, Kumar limped off after delivering the first ball which was eventually completed by Khaleel Ahmed. Kumar was seen holding his thigh muscle as he left the field.

Kumar’s exit from the IPL will be a massive blow for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, as he had been in some decent form during this season of the IPL, as he picked up three wickets in the four games that he played, but more importantly he was bowling at a terrific economy of 6.98.

According to reports, Kumar has sustained a grade 2 or a grade 3 injury in the thigh muscle, which could see him miss six to eight weeks of cricket. This now puts a cloud of uncertainty over his participation in India’s tour of Australia as well, which is expected to be starting from November 27.

The players will be flying out directly from the UAE to Australia after the IPL, where they are likely to play three T20Is, three ODIs and four Tests.

This isn’t the first time Bhuvneshwar has faced an injury issue. The pacer missed five matches in the 2018 season of the IPL due to back issues, which persisted through the English tour later that year.

Kumar also missed the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh during the later part of 2019 due to a side strain.
