Rafael Nadal dealt with some real windy conditions on Sunday to enter into a record-breaking 14th quarter-final at Ronald Garros, as the 12-time champion breezed past Sebastian Korda 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 in 115 minutes.

Reaching his 14th quarter-final in Paris, Nadal now moves ahead of Djokovic, who reached the quarter-final at the clay-court Grand Slam championship 13 times. “I can’t complain at all, so [I’m] happy for that.” Nadal said in the post match interview.

With heavy winds blowing inside the court, Korda made a positive start, breaking Nadal for the first time. After taking 37 minutes to close the first set, Nadal increased his advantage with a break in the second set. Nadal responded emphatically as he won six consecutive games from 0-2 to record his 19th win out of 23 matches this season, with Nadal closing the match with a forehand return winner down the line.

Korda who considers Nadal to be his idol, speaking in his post match interview said, “”It was definitely the best moment of my life. It was super awesome”. Korda further added that “After the match I asked him for a signed shirt when we were tapping rackets. I don’t know if anyone’s ever asked him for an autograph after a match, but that was definitely the coolest moment of my life and one I’ll never forget.”
