Guwahati: State president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ranjit Das has announced the suspension of Diban Deka, who has been considered as one of the prime accused in the in the Assam Police SI recruitment case, on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference, Das stated that the accused was merely a party-worker and cannot be considered as a leader of the party. He further added that Deka was not assigned any executive role under the state wing of the ruling BJP during his tenure as the party president.
The decision comes at the time when Diban Deka is being interrogated after his surrender before Assam Police at Patacharkuchi area of Bajali district of state on Wednesday night.
Police sources inform that erstwhile BJP leader is being currently held at the 4th Assam Police Battalion (APBn) at Kahilipara in city where he’s been grilled by a high-level state police team headed by ADGP GP Singh. He will be produced in court later on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Assam Police has already announced Rs 1 lakh cash reward each for anyone providing information about the whereabouts of alleged prime accused, former DIG PK Dutta and Diban Deka.
The whereabouts of the former DIG PK Dutta is still unknown to the police.
Police has already sent out lookout notices against the two who are considered as the prime accused in the SI (Unarmed Branch) recruitment examination question paper leak case. The notice had been sent to every state to ensure that they do not escape the country. “Police is also keeping a strict eye on the India-Nepal border, as PK Dutta’s son-in-law resides in that country,” state DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said.
