Imphal: The Manipur Congress has strongly condemned the alleged attack on former president of Congress party Rahul Gandhi by Uttar Pradesh police along the Delhi-Noida highway on Thursday.
The party also questioned the UP police as under whose command or order the alleged attack to the Congress leader was carried out.
The incident happened when the Congress leader along his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other party leaders were on their way by foot to meet the family of the Hathras gang rape victim who died on Tuesday, reports say.
In video footage of the incident which has gone viral on social media shows that the Congress leader Rahul being pushed down to the ground on the Yamuna Expressway.
Following the incident, the Congress party in Manipur have demanded the resignation for Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the alleged attacked to its party leader.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Congress spokesperson Ningombam Bupenda Meitei said, “Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister must resign. Prime Minister of India must be held responsible for removing SPG cover to Rahul Gandhi ji, who has been attacked by Uttar Pradesh Police today.”
