Guwahati: One of the suspected prime accused in the Assam Police SI recruitment case and BJP leader Diban Deka will be produced in court here very shortly from now as he surrendered before Assam Police at Patacharkuchi area of Bajali district of state on Wednesday night.
Police sources inform here that Deka is being interrogated at the 4th Assam Police Battalion (APBn) at Kahilipara in city as a high-level state police team headed by ADGP GP Singh took the accused from Patacharkuchi to Guwahati.
It is said that Deka’s wife was with him when he surrendered before the police.
Meanwhile, Assam Police has already announced Rs 1 lakh cash reward each for anyone providing information about the whereabouts of alleged prime accused, former DIG PK Dutta and Diban Deka.
Former DIG PK Dutta is still absconding till the filing of this report.
Police has already sent out lookout notices against the two who are considered as the prime accused in the SI (Unarmed Branch) recruitment examination question paper leak case. The notice had been sent to every state to ensure that they do not escape the country. “Police is also keeping a strict eye on the India-Nepal border, as PK Dutta’s son-in-law resides in that country,” state DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta said.
Leader of the youth wing of the Assam BJP Diban Deka, in his Facebook page clarification, had said that he was associated with the company responsible for conducting the examination for Assam Police. He also alleged that some of the senior-level officers are involve in the scam.
In his clarification, Deka also confirmed that to save his life, he has already shifted to a different state. “When the situation comes under control, I will inform everything to the media,” he said.
