Television actor Akshat Utkarsh was reportedly found dead in his rented apartment in Mumbai’s Andheri area on Sunday night. The 26-year-old actor hailed from Bihar.
Amnoli police officials believe that the actor died by suicide and alleged that he was “depressed” due to lack of work. Members of his family dismiss the narrative of depression. They claim that the aspiring actor was murdered and the police didn’t even lodge an FIR in the case.
Close family members had stated that the actor was looking for jobs and had also allegedly found a film. On Tuesday, his body was taken to his native place in Muzaffarpur.
Police investigations have revealed that Utkarsh used to stay with one female friend at a society near Andheri, RTO when the incident happened. She said that the actor was behaving as usual on Sunday evening and they had their usual chats and then had dinner before sleeping.
An officer from the police had said that around 11.30 pm when she woke up to use the washroom she found Utkarsh dead in his room. The roommate then immediately contacted the police and upon their arrival, the body was shifted to Cooper hospital for an autopsy report.
Senior police inspector at Amboli police station, Someshwar Kanthe had said that they have registered an Accidental Death Record (ADR) and are presently inquiring the matter. As of now, the preliminary inquiry and the autopsy report do not indicate foul play he said adding that the incident took place on Sunday night somewhere between 10 pm and 11:30 pm.
Police officials widened their search towards the actor’s friends and from their statements had allegedly found that the actor was going through depression. The COVID-19 scene had crippled the actor from a job due to the lockdowns it induced. Because of which Utkarsh had to borrow money from his family and friends.
