Agartala: In yet another successful operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrested three militants from the Mamit district of Mizoram on Monday.

The BSF seized 30 sophisticated weapons consisting of 28 AK-Series Rifles, one 5.56 MM AK-74 Rifle and one carbine 0.30 along with 7894 assorted ammunitions (7.62 MM Ball – 5398, 5.56 mm CTN – 2490 and .30” – 06) and 28 Magazines (26-AKM Magazines, 01 -7.62 MM AKM Belt ammn box type magazine and one carbine .30 magazine).

Acting on a specific input of Intelligence Branch of BSF about transportation of big haul of weapon consignment to the bordering area, a special operation was launched in the outskirts of Village Phuldungsei in Mamit district.

The 90 Bn BSF, Aizawl headed by SK Pillai, 2IC under supervision of Kuldeep Singh, DIG BSF Aizawl laid special ambush in the target area under West Phuldungsei Sub-division-.

During ambush, BSF party intercepted the target vehicles — Mahindra Thar (MZ-01K-5262) & Mahindra Pickup (MZ-01L-4949) on South Phuldungsei – West Phuldungsei road, approximately 15 km aerial distance from the International Border with Bangladesh.

During preliminary questioning, three apprehended persons revealed their identities as Lalhuapzauva (56), Vanlalruata (25) and Liansanga (46).

An amount of Rs 39,020 in cash and other articles were also recovered from the apprehended persons.
