Tinsukia: The National Investigating Agency (NIA), probing the Arunachal massacre including killing of MLA Tirong Aboh May 21 last year, has released photographs and names of five insurgents and announced cash rewards seeking information about them.
The NIA announced cash rewards of Rs 3 lakh each from “maj gen” Absolon Tangkhul, self-styled “lieutenant colonel” Apem and self-styled “captain” Victor Tangkhul and Rs 2 lakh each for SS James Kiwang and SS Rabi Wangno. Apem is the “commander of Samsong battalion” of the outfit in Tizit in Nagaland.
The NIA tweeted on Friday night: “NIA Announces Cash Reward for Arrest of Wanted Accused involved in the assassination of Shri Tirong Aboh, Hon’ble MLA Khonsa , Arunachal Pradesh. He & his son were among the 11 people shot dead by NSCN(IM) militants on 21 May, 2019 in Pansumthong village of Tirap district.”

A moment later, NIA again tweeted posters of three more accused carrying cash rewards on them.
On May 21 last year, the insurgents of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isac- Muviah), which is spearheading peace talks with the centre towards finding a peaceful solution, allegedly laid an ambush on the convoy of Khonsa MLA near Pansum Thong village in Tirap district. In the deadly attack, Aboh died along with 10 others, while three sustained injuries.
Earlier, in August last year, NIA had declared cash rewards on five fugitives from NSCN (IM) accused in the massacre in Arunachal Pradesh.

The NIA had re-registered the case on June 10 last year under section 120B, 302, 307 & 34 of IPC & 25 (1B) (a) and 27 of Arms Act and Sections16, 18 and 20 of UA (P) Act.
In January this year, the probe agency had filed a chargesheet against four accused, who were arrested for hatching a terrorist plot and killing Khonsa MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others, before the NIA Special Court in Yupia in Arunachal Pradesh. The accused had been identified as Luckin Mashangva, Jai Kishan Sharma, Yangte Josaham and Napong Jenpi @ Jenpi.
