The Dubai International Cricket Stadium is all set to host Match number seven of the Dream11 IPL 2020 as the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings take on the young Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals on Friday evening.
The Chennai Super Kings started their campaign this season with a win against the Mumbai Indians, however, they ended up on the losing side against the Rajasthan Royals in their second game, and they will strive to pick the pieces against a young Delhi side, who snatched a win from the jaws of defeat in a Super Over against the Kings XI Punjab in their first outing of the tournament.
We bring to you a few of the important talking points going around ahead of the match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals
Dhoni’s batting position
The raging debate over the former India skipper MS Dhoni pushing himself down the order is all over once again. While MS himself clarified the reason for him coming late in the post match interview last match, cricketing experts around the world are still fuming about his late show up. Playing against a young Delhi side, it would be interesting to see if the Chennai skipper promotes himself up the order. Even statistics favor Dhoni batting up the order. In IPL, whenever MS has batted at No. 5 or above, his team has won 57 percent of matches, whereas the figure drops steeply to 37 percent or worse with Dhoni batting at No. 6 or below.
Youngest vs Oldest
As Chennai Super Kings take on the Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium tonight, it will be a battle between the Youngest captain of the season in the form of Shreyas Iyer and the Oldest and the most experienced captain of the season Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It will be a great contest to look out where the young Shreyas Iyer full of energy and enthusiasm will take on the cool and calm MS Dhoni
Ambati Rayudu played a pivotal role in CSK’s first win of the season against the Mumbai Indians with a brilliant 71 of just 48 deliveries, but since then he has been out with a hamstring issue and their star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who comes on the back of a great Caribbean Premier League season is out with a knee injury and won’t be available for selection tonight.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals are still unsure about their experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and his injured shoulder and are yet to take a call about his availability in the playing XI. Ashwin bowled a brilliant over in their season-opener against the Kings XI Punjab picking two wickets in a single over and giving away just two runs, before he had to leave the field due to a shoulder injury.
