Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma seems to be pretty unhappy with former India captain Sunil Gavaskar’s commentary and has criticised the same calling some of the remarks he made during Thursday’s IPL match between Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Banglore to be ‘distasteful’.
Anushka, who is the wife of the Indian captain Virat Kohli, took to Instagram and posted a story, where she took objection to a part of Gavaskar’s commentary where he was discussing Kohli’s lack of practice with co-commentator Akash Chopra, after Kohli missed two important catches in the match earlier in the evening.

In a 34-second clip which is doing the rounds on social media, Gavaskar is heard saying live on air, in Hindi: “Kohli wants to… he knows the more he practices the better he will become. Now there was a lockdown in India, and he has practiced only against Anushka’s bowling. That is not going to help him a lot.”
The former India captain was possible referring to a clip which circulated on social media during the lockdown period, where Virat was seen facing some throwdowns from Anushka on their terrace.
Taking a clear displeasure to the fact of “accusing a wife for her husband’s game”, Anushka, in her Instagram story wrote, “That, Mr Gavaskar, your message is distasteful is a fact but I would love for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband’s game? I’m sure over the years you have respected the private life of every cricketer while commentating on the game. Don’t you think you should have equal amount of respect for me and us?
“I’m sure you can have many other words and sentences in your mind to use to comment on my husband’s performance from last night or are your words only relevant if you use my name in the process?
“It’s 2020 and things still don’t change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping statements.
“Respected Mr Gavaskar, you are a legend whose name stands tall in this gentleman’s game. Just wanted to tell you what I felt when I heard you say this.”
Apart from Anushka taking objection, Gavaskar’s remarks hasn’t gone down well with the fans as well, and many have taken to the social media to show their displeasure over the same. Some have even gone to the extent of demanding the removal of Gavaskar from the commentary panel.
Earlier in the evening, RCB skipper Virat Kohli dropped two catches of his KXIP counterpart KL Rahul, who went on to score a majestic 132* of just 69 deliveries, in a match which the RCB went on to lose by 97 runs, with Virat himself managing to score just a single of five deliveries in a chase of 207.
