After spending two weeks in jail, actor Rhea Chakraborty in her second bail request alleged a witch-hunt against her by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). She also alleged that her late partner Sushant Singh Rajput “took advantage of those closest to him to sustain his drug habit.”

“The Applicant (Rhea Chakraborty) states that the Respondents have started a witch-hunt against her by the investigations at the behest of three Central Agencies speacialized in investigations of International ramifications. The CBI and ED till today have found no material whatsoever against the Applicant and her family,” read one of the points in the bail application.

According to the plea, Rajput was the only consumer of the drugs and that, “he was directing his staff members to procure his drugs.” The actor also stated that if Rajput were alive, he would have been charged for the consumption of small quantities, which is a bailable offence having punishment of a term of imprisonment for up to one year.

Rhea argued that it is “preposterous” that while the “consumer of drugs” would receive a maximum punishment of up to one year jail while on the other hand, she would, having paid for the drugs on a few occasions, would be subjected to up to 20 years in jail.

She went on to even say in her bail petition that Rajput used her and her brother Showik and even members of his household staff to facilitate his own drug habit while “ensuring that he did not leave a paper trail of his own in the form of any electronic evidence whatsoever.”

She stated in the petition, “It is unfortunate that Sushant Singh Rajput took advantage of those closest to him to sustain his drug habit and thought it fit to expose them to the perils that would entail.”

Via the information available in the public domain, she claimed that the Rajput had asked his cook, Neeraj three days before his death on June 14, “to make ganja joints/rolls/doobies and place them in his bedroom.” According to her, Neeraj has revealed all this to the CBI and Mumbai Police that he indeed prepared the joints and placed them in a box in Rajput’s bedroom. Thereafter, “when the actor was found dead, he verified from the box that all the joints/doobies had been consumed and the entire box was empty.”

The petition also alleged that Rajput had the habit of regularly smoking cigarettes with ganja since before they met. A habit he allegedly got into during the shoot of his movie Kedarnath, it added.

“Therefore it is clear from the evidence collected by investigative agencies that it was only late Sushant Singh Rajput who was the consumer of drugs and who was in the habit of using those around him to facilitate his drug habit,” Rhea Chakraborty’s bail plea stated.

She also added in her over 40-page petition that Rajput’s ties with his family were strained and alleged that his sisters left him at the “peak of his depression.”

Meanwhile, the hearing of the bail plea, filed before the Bombay High Court, will take place on 24 September.
