Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the chairman of State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) Pradeep Kumar to conduct re-examination for the posts of sub-inspector in the Assam police. The exams were canceled minutes after it had commenced due to leaking of question paper.
Sonowal directed this while taking stock of the developments following the cancellation of the exam which was scheduled on September 20, 2020, in a review meeting. The meeting was held at his official residence here just after returning from New Delhi on Monday evening.
Asking the chairman to conduct the examination in the most transparent manner possible, the minister also added that the results need to be declared as soon as possible. Additionally, DGP Mahanta informed Sonowal about the steps taken by the Assam Police to apprehend the culprits.
According to reports, there were around 66,000 candidates for 597 unarmed sub-inspector posts. The investigations into the leak are undergoing under the purview of the CID. Additionally, Karbi Anglong police also will register a case as the WhatsApp message was anticipated to have originated there said, chairman Kumar.
A statement from the CM’s office stated, “The CM instructed the DGP to identify the nexus, which conspired to spoil the recruitment process, and give strict punishment as soon as possible.”
Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Home Department Jishnu Baruah, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh, ADGP (Security) Harmeet Singh, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Lohiya, IGP Hiren Nath, Commissioner & Secretary of Home Department GD Tripathi and chairman of SLPRB Pradeep Kumar were present in the meeting.
