Agartala: Month after the Indian film actor Manoj Bajpayee and his wife Shabana Bajpayee launched a campaign, called Shramik Sammaan, in collaboration with Helping Hands Charitable Trust to help the migrant labourers, who were left jobless amidst the novel coronavirus pandemic, the superstar announced his 5th livelihood project in Tripura on Friday.
Taking to his social media account, Bajpayee announced his livelihood project in Tripura based on bamboo on the occasion of World Bamboo Day, helping a group of individuals to make bamboo products to generate local employment.
“The 5th livelihood project under the flagship of Shramik Sammaan is taking shape at Lembucherra, West Tripura District. 20 tribal women and men are being trained in making trendy eco-friendly water bottles from bamboo which is found in plenty in the state,” he wrote.
Lembuchera village is almost 10-km away from Agartala. The village is inhabited by both tribal and non-tribal people. Due to the nature of the land, agricultural activities are not enough to create livelihood for the people of this area.
“Many women are sitting idle at home and the proposed unit could boost their economic condition by creating additional employment opportunities for them. We have tied up with local organization Youth for Integration which will mentor the project and help in marketing the product. We plan to train several batches of women in making this uber cool accessory,” he added.
The megastar also requested to donate for this project for the tribal artisans from Tripura and informed that the initial training phase has been completed and commercial production will start in October next.
Manoj and his wife explained how the difficulties for the migrant workers has increased amidst the lockdown and said that it will be a huge task to ensure minimum wage for them. They also sought help for the workers by contributing to the good cause.
