Kohima: A total of 51 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Nagaland on Friday. With this, the total COVID-19 positive cases in Nagaland increased to 5,357.
While Nagaland health minister informed that the new cases were declared out of 544 results received, the medical department’s daily data showed that the new cases were detected COVID-19 positive out of 527 results received.
Out of the 51 new cases, 24 are through traced contacts, 17 are security personnel/police personnel, nine are returnees and one is a frontline worker from Kohima. Among the security personnel/police personnel, nine are from Dimapur, seven are from Kohima and one is from Mokokchung.
Among the traced contacts, 16 are from Kohima and eight are from Dimapur. Among the returnees, three each are from Dimapur and Mokokchung, two are from Mon and one is from Peren.
As per the district wise distribution of the new cases, 23 are from Kohima, 20 are from Dimapur, four are from Mokokchung, two are from Mon and one each is from Peren and Tuensang.
Meanwhile, the state also reported 29 new recovered cases of COVID-19 of which 14 are from Dimapur, eight are from Kohima and seven are from Mon.
The COVID-19 status in Nagaland on Friday as per the state’s health and family welfare department is:
Besides the 10 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, five deaths are COVID-19 positive but not due to COVID-19. Another three deaths—two from Mon and one from Dimapur—are under investigation. The three deaths under investigation have been added to the active cases tally.
Among the active cases, 1197 are asymptomatic, 14 are mild symptomatic, and two are moderate symptomatic.
COVID-19 testing in Nagaland:
Till Friday, a total of 72,596 sample testing has been conducted in Nagaland of which 5,357 tested positive for COVID-19.
Out of the total sample results received, 45,263 are through RT-PCR, 26,092 are through Truenat, and 1241 are through Rapid antigen test. The positive cases by Truenat are counted after confirmation by Rd-Rp Gene.
Out of the total positive cases, 2,501 are from the security forces, 1,430 are returnees, 1,103 are through traced contacts and 323 are frontline workers. Positive cases among the traced contacts are witnessing a weekly spike by 1% as it currently comprise 21% of the total confirmed cases.
