Itanagar: Close on the heels of the alleged abduction of five Arunachal Pradesh youths by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, reports of recent capturing of Indian territory by the Chinese army have once again surfaced in the state.
“The PLA had recently captured around 40-50km land falling under Indian territory in Nacho circle of Arunachal’s Upper Subansiri,” Tapir Gao, who represents Eastern Arunachal in Lower House of Parliament, said.
Gao said that the youths, whose whereabouts are still unknown were abducted from the ‘Sera-7’ area of Nacho after the capturing incident.
According to the MP, the Sera-7 area, which falls in the Indian territory, is around 50-km away from Thongda Hara Pass also termed as the McMahon Line.
The distance from Nacho to Thongda Hara Pass is more than 100 km.
“As of now, we are trying to gather more information from our officials posted at Nacho,” said Gao when questioned whether the PLA had left the Sera-7 area or were still camped there.
Meanwhile, the Guwahati-based Defence PRO told EastMojo that they were yet to receive any official communication on the abduction of five Arunachalee youths and refused to comment further on the matter.
The only and little update in the case so far has come from Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju who on Sunday informed that the Indian Army was trying to establish contact with its Chinese counterparts.
“The Indian Army has already sent hotline message to the counterpart PLA establishment at the border point in Arunachal Pradesh. Response is awaited,” Rijiju tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Global Times in a tweet on Monday mentioned about the Chinese FM spokesperson Zhao Lijian comments on the whole incident of abduction of five youth.
Zhao said, “China has never recognized so-called ‘Arunachal Pradesh,’ which is China’s south Tibet region, and we have no details to release yet about question on Indian army sending a message to PLA about five missing Indians in the region.”
Reacting to the comments of Zhao, former MP and a legislator, Ninong Ering in a tweet said “Who the hell is #CCPChina to recognise #ArunachalPradesh?
#ArunachalPradesh is integral part of #India and we are proud to be #Indians. JAI HIND.”
