Kohima: The NSCN-IM on Sunday informed that a particular sentence about fighting “another war” published in its bi-monthly magazine ‘Nagalim Voice’ has been “sensationalised” in a news report.
An official statement from the NSCN-IM said that a news report from the Telegraph on September 3 has “sensationalised one particular sentence quoting from the Nagalim Voice August 2020 Editorial”.
The lines: “They are still ready to fight another war if their political rights and history are not respected” has been quoted in its news report titled: “NSCN-IM: Nagas ready for fresh war” which went viral on social media, says NSCN-IM.
“NSCN put on record that it stands for peaceful solution of Indo-Naga political issue. That was the reason how the second Indo-Naga Ceasefire was brought about in 1997,” the rebel group said.
The NSCN-IM regretted that the Government of India has “failed to demonstrate the desired sincerity and commitment despite 23 years of peace talks” which the crux of the ongoing talks.
The group said that “the Government of India must revisit the hard-earned achievements of the Indo-Naga peace process and push forward in the desired direction to bring a solution that is honourable and acceptable to both the parties”.
NSCN-IM regretted the “selective war mongering reportage of The Telegraph” and condemned it “with all sincerity”.
