Kohima: COVID-19 cases in Nagaland continue to spike as another 49 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected on Thursday taking the state’s total number of confirmed cases to 4,066.

Among the new cases, 24 each are from Dimapur and Kohima, and one is from Mon. Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed that the new cases were tested as positive out of 708 samples that were tested.

“Altogether 49 new cases of COVID19 have been reported out of 708 samples tested. 24 in Dimapur 24 in Kohima 1 in Mon. All precautionary measures to contain the spread has been initiated. Always wear mask, maintain social distancing & stay safe,” the minister tweeted.

Among the new cases, 18 are armed force personne of which 15 are from Dimapur and three are from Kohima, 19 are persons through traced contacts of which 14 are from Kohima, four are from Dimapur and one is from Mon, six are returnees from Kohima and six are frontline workers of which five are from Dimapur and one is from Kohima.

Overall, 1726 armed force personnel, 1278 returnees, 765 persons through traced contacts and 297 frontline workers have tested positive for COVID-19 so far.

In a subsequent tweet, the minister also informed that another 101 patients have recovered from COVID-19. 86 patients from Kohima, 10 from Zunheboto, four from Dimapur and one from Longleng recovered on Thursday.

“Update! State reports 101 recoveries of COVID-19 Patients.

86 in Kohima, 10 in Zunheboto, 4 in Dimapur & 1 in Longleng.

However, all recovered patients will be kept under strict surveillance,” the minister wrote on Twitter.

The current COVID-19 status in Nagaland is:

Confirmed: 4066

Active: 733

Recovered: 3314

Death: 8

Migrated: 10

Besides the eight confirmed deaths of COVID-19, one deseased was COVID-19 positive but death was not due to COVID-19. Another three deaths are under investigation. All deaths reported in the state are from Dimapur.
