Itanagar: A total of 13 out of the 46 persons who attended a DJ night in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district on Saturday have tested positive for COVID-19.
A DJ night was reportedly organised on Yomgo riverbank, in the outskirts of Aalo, the headquarters of West Siang.
The owner of Cozy Bar in Aalo town, who was present at the party reportedly developed symptoms after the party and was later tested positive for COVID-19.
A contact tracing was accordingly carried out after which 12 more tested positive for the virus.
“Many such parties are being organised in and around the Aalo town without informing the district administration. People are so careless” a local from Aalo who did not want to be named said.
The local said that those 13 people who tested positive for COVID-19 later also attended a picnic together.
“In this particular instance the posters and invitations were already doing rounds of social media before the event happened, however, no one bothered to take action,” the local said.
West Siang deputy commissioner Moki Loyi said that the party was organised in a village which is far from Aalo.
Loyi also said, “The poster circulation was previously confined to a few people and the same has now gone viral after the party attendees tested positive.”
“We have called a meeting regarding this incident and will be able to provide more information once its over,” Loyi said.
