The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Meghalaya has now gone up to 13

Shillong: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded a fresh COVID-19 related death taking the total COVID-19 death to 13.

According to Director of Health Services, Dr Aman Warr informed that the patient Dil Bahadur Biswa, a 72-year-old had passed away early Wednesday morning.

Biswa a resident of Nongmynsong was brought to NEIGRIHMS Emergency Room on September 1 at 1:03 am and expired on September 2, at 8:45 am.

“ The cause of death was due to respiratory failure. He had Covid-19 pneumonia and the contributing causes is Chronic Obstructive Airway Disease (COAD),” said Dr Warr.

Meanwhile, the state recorded 77 new COVID-19 cases taking the total active cases to 1,186. Total number of recovered cases for today is 83 (East Khasi Hills – 68, Ri Bhoi- 5, West Garo Hills – 6 and East Jaintia Hills – 4. The total recovered cases in the state stand at 1,318.

The total number of samples sent for testing is 92,453 out of which 89,162 is tested negative and results of 774 samples is awaited.
