Cartoon character Sinchan Nohara after his name “mischievously” topped the merit list

Siliguri: Students from BSc (Honours) merit list of Siliguri College in North Bengal will have a rare opportunity to take the class with Japanese cartoon character Sinchan Nohara after his name “mischievously” topped the merit list.

This is days after Bollywood actor Sunny Leone and singer Neha Kakkar’s name appeared on various merit lists as well. Kakkar’s name appeared in the BA English (Honours) merit list of Malda’s Manikchak College and Leone’s name appeared in three other colleges. All four colleges have lodged complaints with the cyber cells of the police.

The hilarious character Sinchan’s name was immediately removed from the list after the authorities saw the blunder. A new fresh list was immediately put up after this.

Reports state that the college had outsourced an agency in the process of compiling the merit list which is based on the details given by the candidates during online applications. However, the students’ details will be scrutinised by the institutional authorities before classes resume.

Previously, the government of West Bengal had announced that the admissions of undergraduate courses will be completely online for the year 2020. Additionally, no processing fee will be charged due to the hardship which came due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
