Tripura reported the highest single-day spike of 509 cases on Thursday

Agartala: Tripura on Thursday registered its biggest single-day spike in novel coronavirus cases with 509 persons testing positive for the COVID-19 virus taking the tally at 10,433 so far.

Total 4,499 samples were tested on Thursday out of which 509 returned positive for the virus.

These includes 205 from West district, 63 from Dhalai district, 55 from Sepahijala, 41 from Gomati, 44 from Khowai, 30 from North Tripura and lowest 24 from South Tripura tested positive.

A total of 3,221 samples were tested through Antigen kit out of which 372 tested positive, while 137 tested positive out of the 1,278 samples tested through RT-PCR.

Meanwhile, Four more persons succumbed to the virus, which includes two from West Tripura district and one each from Sepahijala and Unakoti district taking the death toll to 89 with 6,839 recovered cases so far.

2,58,053 samples have been collected in the state, out of which 2,7,018 were tested, and 9,927 samples returned positive. There are 2,977 active cases.

The positivity rate stands at 3.86 per cent, test per million at 64,293 while the recovery rate stands at 69.03 per cent and mortality rate at 0.90 per cent.
