The panel discussed on handling COVID-19 in New Delhi and NCT region

Ministry of Home Affair’s Parliamentary Standing Committee met for a record duration on Thursday, of almost 5 hours, to discuss about various aspects of COVID-19, and it’s handling it in New Delhi and NCT region.

Chaired by Rajya Sabha MP Anand Sharma of Congress, the committee reportedly set another record by holding two successive meetings of more than four hours each to discuss issues related to the pandemic.

According to reports, several witnesses were heard on the impact of COVID-19.

The committee went on for a third meeting, again on the COVID-19 pandemic, which also lasted for over four hours. In total, the Parliamentary Committee spend over 12 hours discussing COVID-19 with various stakeholders.

The committee saw a presentation by Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar, also MHA’s Dev. Additional Secretary, Govind Mohan participated in the deliberations.

Among others, the committee interacted with Union secretaries Debashis Panda (Department of Financial Services) and Sudhanshu Pandey (Food and Public Distribution System), representatives of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), National Statistical Survey Office (NSSO) and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).
