Agartala: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) University — Tripura’s lone state university — has announced a host of professional and foreign language courses including diploma in Goods and Service Tax (GST), Retails and Sales Management, Insurance Risk Management, among others.
A press statement issued by assistant examination controller Dr Rakesh Roy informed that the state university informed that four evening diploma courses on GST, Retail and Sales Management, Insurance Risk Management and Spanish language have been introduced, while two integrated Master’s degree (IMD) courses on Commerce and Chemistry are being launched in addition to one-year diploma programmes in the university.
The new courses introduced would open up employment opportunities for students as students who have already qualified their Higher Secondary (Class- XII) or equivalent examinations with four subjects including English paper from any recognized education board or council would be eligible to take admission.
The admission process has already begun while each of these new courses will have an intake capacity of 60 students to take admission by August 31.
Meanwhile, the vice-chancellor of MBB University, Professor Satyadeo Poddar said that the new courses would provide an opportunity to students who have desired to start new ventures on their own.
“Students having knowledge in GST will be benefitted by these courses as there is huge scope to getting jobs with good salaries once completed these courses from a recognized university”, Poddar said.
The VC also said that the university will consider starting more such professional and vocational courses if these courses receives success.
Courses fee for the one year evening diploma programmes in GST, Retail and Sales Management, Insurance Risk Management and Spanish language were set in self-financing mode and candidates would have to shell out Rs 23 thousand per semester for these courses.
