Agartala: Another ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Mimi Majumder, has tested positive for novel coronavirus, becoming the third legislator to have been found infected with COVID-19 in the state.
Majumder, who represents the Badharghat assembly constituency, tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday.
Taking to Twitter, Majumder announced, “I have been tested corona positive yesterday. I’m currently hospitalized along with my husband on the advice of doctor. I urge those who have contacted me in the last few days to isolate themselves and get tested very soon.”
BJP MLA Ramapada Jamatia was the first legislator to have tested positive for the coronavirus on July 22. Later, on August 1, IPFT MLA from Raimavalley assembly, Dhananjoy Tripura, was found injected with COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 media bulletin informed that currently, 239 persons are under facility quarantine, while 3,386 are under home quarantine.
So far, a total of 2,41,101 were tested and 8,717 persons have tested positive for the virus, with 72 deaths and 2,445 active cases so far.
The positivity rate stands at 3.51 per cent, test per million at 59,713 while the recovery rate stands at 73.85 percent and mortality rate at 0.85 percent.
