Bongaigaon: An operative of the suspected Islamic State has been reportedly arrested in Delhi after an encounter with the police.
Deputy commissioner of Delhi Police Pramod Singh Kushwaha while speaking to the media said that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered from the possession of the operative when he was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
The arrest took place after an exchange of fire with the police at Dhaula Kuan. The person has been identified as Abu Yusuf.
The arrest of the suspected ISIS operative comes just days after National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Abdur Rehman, a Bangalore-based doctor.
Rehman was taken into custody last week in Bengaluru and was shifted to New Delhi by NIA on a transit remand. According to reports, Rehman traveled to Dubai with two of his friends and obtained a six-month UAE visa following which he traveled to Dubai.
On reaching Dubai, Rehman secretly traveled to Syria and allegedly may have decided to join the ISIS.
