Speaking with reporters, BJP pradesh vice-president and MP Pratima Bhoumik said that the Charilam Mandal president and some of the BJP supporters came under attack of Congress workers. When the party workers retaliated, the Tripura police resorted to lathicharge leading to injuries of around 15 BJP supporters.

“At a time when even for marriage ceremonies there is a limit of 50 people due to COVID-19 pandemic, how could the Congress organise a big event calling supporters from other parts of the state? Even the state government had to organise the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s death anniversary in presence of a limited number of people,” Bhoumik said.

The Congress party is celebrating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by unveiling a statue, how can so many people travel to Agartala to join the programme when there is no permission for us and other social programs, she questioned.
