Imphal: Another 49 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Thursday, including nine from the security forces.

All the 40 new cases, including 15 female, from the general population do not have significant travel history outside Manipur, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang in a statement.

The locally transmitted cases have been reported from Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati and Thoubal districts. They are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres for further treatment, he said.

Fortunately, no deaths relating to COVID-19 have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours.

Also, another 117 persons, including 70 security personnel, who were tested positive with COVID-19 earlier, have recovered from the coronavirus. They were discharged from UNACCO COVID-19 Care Center and CAPF.

As on August 20, the total number of confirmed cases for coronavirus is 4,925, of which 3,639 are from the general population and 1,286 are security personnel.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 3,002, and active 1,905.
