Guwahati: Paris Saint-Germain are through to their first ever Champions League final, as they eased past RB Leipzig with a 3-0 win in the semi-final in Lisbon Wednesday.

With Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe back in the side, Paris began in a positive fashion and they didn’t have to wait long to open the scoring, as Marquinhos scored a header coming in from Di Maria’s free kick in the 13th minute of the game, taking an early lead of 1-0. Minutes before going into half-time, a clever flick from Neymar found Di Maria for a close range finish, taking PSG’s lead to 2-0 going into the half-time.

Prior to PSG’s second, Yussuf Poulsen had Leipzig’s best chance but fired wide after he was found by a Dani Olmo pull-back.

Leipzig desperate for some better results made some changes going into the second half, as they replaced Christopher Nkunku and Dani Olmo with Patrik Schick and Emil Forsberg. Despite starting the second period well, with the two substitutes both having attempts that were off target, it was PSG who extended their lead just 11 minutes into the second half, when Nordi Mukiele slipped and presented possession to Di Maria, whose cross was headed in by Juan Bernat, thus taking the score for PSG to 3-0.

Leipzig had no chance whatsoever as the Parisians were all over them in the semi-final on Tuesday.

Speaking about the same the Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsman said, “”They were better than us. Even if we could have made a lot of things better, maybe it would still not have been enough.”

Man-of-the-match Di Maria said, “We ate them up from minute one,”. Speaking about PSG reaching the Champions League final for the first time he further said that, “It’s going to be tough to sleep between now and the final. We want to make history for the club.”

The French champions now move on to Sunday’s final against Bayern Munich or Lyon.
