Kohima: COVID-19 cases in Nagaland touched 3,455 as 61 more persons tested positive on Monday. The new cases were declared as positive out of 577 samples that were tested.

Thirty armed forces personnel, 14 persons through traced contacts, nine returnees and eight frontline workers tested positive. Out of the armed forces personnel, 22 are from Kohima and eight from Dimapur. Among the traced contacts, 11 are from Dimapur, two from Zunheboto, and one from Kohima.

Among the returnees, seven are from Dimapur and one each from Kohima and Zunheboto. All eight frontline workers who tested positive are from Dimapur.

Out of the new cases, 34 are from Dimapur, 24 from Kohima, two from Zunheboto and one from Mokokchung. The number of active cases has now spiked to 2,019.

With the addition of the new cases, Dimapur currently has 1,202 active cases out of 1,773 confirmed cases, Kohima has 628 active cases out of 935 confirmed cases, Zunheboto has 84 active cases out of 100 total cases and Mokokchung has two active cases out of 19 confirmed cases.

Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed that necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are put under self isolation.

Taking to Twitter, Phom tweeted:


61 new +ve cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed out of 577 samples tested.

34 in Dimapur, 24 in Kohima, 2 in Zunheboto & 1 in Mokokchung.

Necessary contact tracing have been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation. Wear Mask, Stay Safe!”

Confirmed: 3,455

Active: 2,019

Recovered: 1,422

Migrated: 6

Death: 7

One death is COVID-19 positive but not due to COVID-19. Therefore, it is not reflected in the tally. COVID deaths are established by the COVID-19 Death Review Committee as per ICMR protocol and WHO ICD-10 classification.

So far, a total of 1,511 armed forces personnel, 1,177 returnees, 490 traced contacts, 223 frontline workers and 54 others have tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagaland.
