Imphal: At least 118 persons, including 24 security personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur in the last 24 hours.
With these latest cases, the total number of confirmed cases now stands at 4,687. Of the total positive cases so far, 3,471 are from the general population and 1,216 are from the security forces.
The fresh cases were tested positive at VRDL of JNIMS (9), Imphal West (69), Churachandpur (25), Thoubal (5), Noney (2), Temenglong (1), Raj Medicity (3), Babina Diagnostics (2), and Shija Hospital (2).
Apart from the 24 armed forces, the 94 persons from the general population who were infected with the virus are said to have no travel history outside the state. No returnees from other states are found tested as COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours.
The locally infected cases are from Imphal West (72), Imphal East (12), Thoubal (6), Noney (2), Tamenglong (1) and Churachandpur (1) districts.
According to a statement issued by additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, a 48-year-old man, a COVID-19 positive patient, from Imphal East district became the latest casualty of the virus at RIMS Hospital in the state. The victim was also suffering from multiple health complications, it said.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate in the state is 58.33% with another 102 persons recovering from the coronavirus on Monday.
The cumulative number of discharged cases is 2,734 and active 1,936.
