Actor Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly died by suicide on June 14

New Delhi: In a recent update in the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death at his residence in Mumbai, the lawyer representing his father said that the post-mortem report that was prepared after the death of the actor failed to mention the time of death.

This issue was raised on Saturday by lawyer Vikas Singh. According to Singh, the most crucial detail of any post-mortem report is the time of death of the victim. He added that whether Rajput was hung after being killed or he died by hanging can be cleared with the time of death. Cooper Hospital and Mumbai Police will have to answer these questions, he said, adding that a CBI inquiry is needed in this matter.

In an interview with a leading daily, Singh said that even though Mumbai Police is a professional force, it can only perform well when ministers allow it to do so. Alleging that in high-profile cases like this one, he said politicians interfere and thus become a hindrance for police officials to do their job.

Singh has been representing Rajput’s father KK Singh and they are fighting the government of Maharashtra in Supreme Court. They demanded that the probe into the actor’s death should be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Additionally, during the growing clamor by politicians, friction between Mumbai and Bihar police departments, the case was transferred to CBI.

Moreover, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also registered a case to probe whether money laundering had a role to play. ED recently said that Rajput was allegedly paying EMIs for Rs 4.5 crore flat which is currently occupied by ex-co-star Ankita Lokhande. She, however, denies all claims. Even actor Rhea Chakraborty has been booked for a money laundering case by the ED in connection with the death.

Several conspiracy theories arose in connection with the death of the actor. From money laundering to nepotism, lobbying, and isolation by the Bollywood film fraternity to bringing in big names of the industry in connection to the case. Some even linked the case to death by suicide by Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian.

On the other hand, the Mumbai Police earlier said that the actor died by suicide in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14. The initial investigation centered on whether the actor was driven to commit the act by clinical depression or ugly rivalries in the film industry or both.
