New Delhi: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district for defecating in a farmland of Palaria village of Isanagar area on Saturday, said reports.

According to the father of the victim, her eyes were gouged out and her tongue cut, said reports. Although UP Police said that according to the autopsy report, her eyes were not gouged out and neither was her tongue cut, there were some scratches near the eyes which is most likely caused due to the sharp sugarcane leaves from where the body was found. The victim’s body was found in one of the fields of one of the accused.

The UP Police, however, added that the girl’s post mortem report confirmed that she was raped and was allegedly strangled to death. An FIR against the two accused has been registered by the police under Section 302 (murder) and SC/ST Act of the IPC at Isanagar police station. Both the accused were detained on Saturday. Section 376d (gang-rape) and POCSO were later added to the FIR after the autopsy confirmed the sexual assault.

It was also alleged that the girl’s family had a tiff with one of the accused for defecating in his farmland in the past. The girl had gone missing on Friday and when the family members went out in search of her they found her dead body in the sugarcane field. According to the SHO Isanagar, the accused accepted to have killed the girl along with the other person.

Meanwhile, former UP CM Mayawati condemned the incident on Twitter and called it “extremely shameful.” Attacking the Yogi Adityanath administration she said: “What is the difference between the governments of the Samajwadi Party and the present BJP if such incidents keep happening?”

Even Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad commented on the incident and said, “Dalit oppression is at its peak under the BJP government… If it is not the Jungle Raj, then what is? Our daughters are not safe, our homes are not safe, there is an atmosphere of fear everywhere. Yogi (Adityanath) resign.”
