New Delhi: The investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has brought out many new developments. This time, it revolved around actor Ankita Lokhande, who was said to Rajput’s ex-girlfriend. Media reports quoting sources from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that Rajput was allegedly paying EMIs for a Rs 4.5 crore flat which is currently occupied by Lokhande.
The ED, who is also probing into the case related to the embezzlement of Rs 15 crore from Rajput’s account, found that the late actor was paying installments for the flat which is located in Malad Mumbai. It is alleged that Rajputs’ former co-actor and girlfriend Lokhande occupied the place. This case is currently being investigated by CBI, Mumbai Police, and the ED.
ED took over the money-laundering investigation on July 31.
This investigation is based on the FIR filed in Patna against Rhea Chakraborty and her family members and few others. The FIR which was filed by Rajput’s father KK Singh, in his complaint to Bihar police, alleged that Rs 15 crore was withdrawn or transferred from his late son’s Kotak Mahindra Bank account. After this, the ED registered a case under PMLA against Chakraborty and others.
Additionally, according to the ED, EMIs for the flat was deducted from Rajput’s bank account. This was where Lokhande used to stay but the flat is registered under Rajput’s name. Moreover, Chakraborty during questioning, allegedly said that Rajput was paying the installments as he could not ask Lokhande to vacate the place. Although the actual amount is not yet cleared, if sources are to be believed, only a few installments are yet to be paid. Meanwhile, the records of one of Rajput’s accounts show that the EMIs were deducted every month.
Meanwhile, Lokhande, who has been very vocal on the death case of her former co-actor, shared a post on her social media accounts clarifying that it was her who has been paying the EMIs for the flat. She even shared pictures of bank statements. “Here i cease all the speculations. As transparent as I could be.My Flat’s Registration as well as my Bank Statement’s(01/01/19 to 01/03/20)highlighting the emi’s being deducted from my account on monthly basis. There is nothing more I have to say #justiceforssr,” she wrote on Instagram.
