Guwahati: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the only Indian captain to win all the ICC tournaments, announced his retirement from all forms of International cricket on Saturday.
The former Indian skipper, who already retired from Test cricket in December 2014, on Saturday announced his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals through an Instagram post.
The post on Instagram, which featured a 4.06 minutes video comprising of all the important moments of his cricketing career read: “Thanks. Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughtout.from 1929 hrs considered me as Retired”.

Although the post did not mention the formats he is retiring from, the World Cup winning captain is expected to play in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting from September, in the UAE. Dhoni has already been seen in the Chennai Super Kings training and conditioning camp, alongside some of the other team members.
Speculations regarding Dhoni’s retirement were on high for quite sometime now, as the former India skipper has not played professional cricket since India’s exit in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in June 2019, although he was seen practicing for the Chennai Super Kings in March, ahead of the IPL 2020, which later got postponed due to the pandemic outbreak.
Leaving behind a legendry career to look and cherish upon with 538 appearances, 172666 runs, 16 centuries, 108 half-centuries, and 829 electric dismissals behind the stumps, Mahendra Singh Dhoni bids adieu to international cricket.
