Imphal: At least 130 fresh cases were detected positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Thursday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 4,112.
Of the latest new cases, 39 are security personnel and 87 from the general population who do not have significant travel history outside Manipur, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
All the four returnees who were diagnosed with the virus belong to Churachandpur district.
The locally transmitted cases from the general population were reported from Imphal West (24), Thoubal (47), Imphal East (12), Bishnupur (3) and Senapati (1) districts, said Dr Mangang.
All of them have been shifted to COVID-19 care facilities for further observation.
As on August 13, the recovery rate stands at 55.81% with 64 more infected persons recovering and getting discharged from various COVID-19 facilities and centres.
One person was discharged from RIMS and the remaining from COVID-19 Care Centers (CCC) of Meitram (40), Kakching (15), Kamjong (4) and Phungyar (4) after their samples tested negative on RT-PCR test.
Now, the total number of recovered persons in the state has reached 2,295 (2,123 from the general population and 172 security personnel) and as many as 1,804 people are receiving treatment for COVID-19. Among the active cases, 1,041 are from the general population and at least 763 are armed forces personnel.
Earlier, a 37-year-old man with a history of hypertension from Imphal West district succumbed to the virus at RIMS Hospital. So far, the pandemic has claimed at least 13 lives in the state.
