Aizawl: Mizoram reported 25 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s caseload to 648, a health department official said.
Of the 25 cases, 10 each were reported from Aizawl and Kolasib districts while 5 cases were reported from Lunglei district in the southern part of the state, the official said.
Among the 10 patients from Aizawl district, who were diagnosed at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) includes a 3-year-old and 7-year-old child, he said.
Eight of them, including the infant and the child, contracted the virus from COVID-19 patients and have been isolated at homes since they came in contact with positive patients while two others returned from Assam and Karnataka, he said.
According to the official, all the 10 infected patients from Kolasib district were drivers, who came from Assam.
He said that the five patients from Lunglei district were Border Security Force (BSF) jawans, who have been placed under quarantine.
There are 318 active cases in the state while a total of 330 people have already recovered.
Two patients have migrated to Assam.
Meanwhile, the Mizoram government ordered that all the passengers, drivers and handymen would have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before entering the state.
So far, at least 53 truckers and their helpers from outside the state have tested positive for novel coronavirus, officials said.
