Aizawl: Altogether 12 more people, including 5 Border Security Force (BSF) jawans in Mizoram have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 620, an official said.
5 cases were reported from Lunglei district, 4 from Kolasib district, 2 from Aizawl district and 1 from Champhai district, the official said.
The newly infected patients also included 4 truckers and their helpers who came from Uttar Pradesh, Tripura and Assam, he said.
A frontline worker who came in contact with Covid-19 patients has also tested positive for the virus, he said.
The 5 BSF jawans have returned from Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana and have been placed under quarantine at a facility in Lunglei, according to the official.
The infected state residents barring the frontline worker have returned from Manipur and Myanmar, he said.
There are 322 active patients, which is 51.93% of the total cases, according to health department. A total of 298 people have already recovered, it said. The recovery rate is 48%.
The department also said that 23,324 samples have been tested till Sunday, of which 2.65% came out as positive for Covid-19.
