Imphal: As many as 117 persons infected with the novel coronavirus we’re discharged from various COVID-19 care centres in the last 24 hours, the highest number of recovered cases in a single day in Manipur so far.
The latest recovered cases include 75 persons from the general population and 42 from the central security forces.
Meanwhile, 118 more persons, including 28 security personnel, tested positive for the virus on Sunday.
They were tested at VRDLs of RIMS (18), JNIMS (78), Babina Diagnostics (2), Imphal West Rapid Antigen Testing (1), Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (5), Raj Medicity TrueNat (1), Imphal East Rapid Antigen Testing (1), Thoubal (9), Shija Hospital (1) and Tamenglong (1).
Of the total 90 cases from the general population, at least 71 persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 despite having no prior travel history to other states, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.

The locally transmitted cases with no travel history outside the state were reported from Imphal East (26), Thoubal (13), Churachandpur (11), Imphal West (9), Chandel (9), Senapati (2) and Ukhrul (1).

Also, those 19 returnees who were detected with the disease belong to the districts of Kangpokpi (11), Imphal East (2), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (1), Imphal West (1) and Jiribam (1), respectively.
All of them have been shifted to COVID-19 care facilities for further observation.
Now, the total number of confirmed cases for COVID-19 has spiked to 3,753, of which 2,930 are from the general population and 823 from the central security forces.
Similarly, 2,044 persons have recovered and 1,698 are undergoing treatment after being tested positive for the virus.
