Guwahati: A wild boar, which attacked five persons, two of whom are said to be in a serious condition, was allegedly killed by an angry mob at Marakhali colony near Assam Textile Institute, Ambari in Guwahati, Assam on Saturday noon.
It has been alleged that the angry mob killed the boar as it was taking shelter there after attacking the five persons, one of them being Rajendar Basfor, a resident of the colony.
A team from the state forest department also reached the spot where the boar attacked three persons but failed to trace it.
However, the body of the wild boar is now in the custody of the Latasil police till the filing of this report.
Earlier, five persons sustained injuries, two of them seriously, when a wild boar attacked them inside the premises of the Guwahati Press Club (GPC) and state directorate of archaeology in Guwahati, Assam on Saturday morning.
Sources in the GPC informed that Rajendar Basfor, an employee of the GPC, sustained injuries in his stomach when the wild boar attacked him. “He has been shifted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH),” the sources said, adding: “The wild boar also attacked another four other persons at the office of the state directorate of archaeology.”
Two of them have been identified as Karuna Barman and Mokleb Ali.
Ali’s condition is stated to be serious as he reportedly sustained serious injuries in his stomach, chest and hands. Both are reportedly admitted at the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.
Meanwhile, the secretary of Gauhati Press Club, Sanjay Ray, announced that the press club will provide financial support to facilitate treatment of its injured part-time employee Basfor.
