Imphal: The COVID-19 pandemic in Manipur has claimed at least 10 lives with two more male patients reportedly succumbing to the virus on Friday.
As per the official statement, two male patients, aged 76 and 28 years, from Kangpokpi and Chandel districts, respectively, were declared dead due to COVID-19. They had co-morbid health conditions as well, it said.
Meanwhile, fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the state in the past 24 hours, of which 84 persons are from the general population and 165 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The latest cases from the general population have been reported from the districts of Thoubal (37), Imphal West (14), Kakching (10), Temenglong (12), Bishnupur (6), Chandel (3), Imphal East (1) and Kangpokpi (1).
Now, the total confirmed positive cases stand at 3,466, including 2,765 locals and 701 security personnel. Also, out of the total 1,530 active cases, 829 are from the general population and 701 from the armed forces.
The total number of infected persons who have recovered is now 1,926, of which 1,834 are locals and 93 belong to the security personnel.
Till date, as per additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, at least 694 persons have been confirmed as locally transmitted without travel history outside Manipur. The rate of locally transmitted cases, according has increased to 20%, he added.
In the last 24 hours, 21 more infected persons have recovered and discharged from RIMS (6), COVID-19 Care Centers of Meitram (10), Kakching (4) and Kamjong (1) after they were tested negative on RT PCR test.
