Guwahati: In a bid to raise relief funds for Assam floods, Global Shapers Guwahati Hub in association with Samanway Foundation and EastMojo organised a fundraising musical evening ‘Stronger Together’ on August 1.

Through the event, an e-concert was hosted with two renowned artists from the region, Ron Cha and Nishant Hagjer, who entertained the audience with their music and raised awareness about the flood situation in Assam.

An online fundraising campaign was also carried out to raise funds and provide relief to the most at-risk people in flood affected districts of Barpeta and Morigaon in Assam. So far, around Rs 24,000 has been raised. The fundraiser is open till August 10.

Global Shapers Community joined hands with Samanway Foundation to provide hygiene-based relief kits to the affected families in Barpeta and Morigaon districts. The relief comprises a combination of essential utilities such as sanitary napkins, soaps, mosquito nets, bleaching powder and additional items such as baby food, salt, sugar, drinking water and so on.

Around 1,150 families have been reached in two phases and provided relief and support. The donations raised would be utilized for further flood relief campaigns being planned on the ground to provide much needed relief and rehabilitation on the ground in these specific districts.
