34 security personnel were among the 98 cases reported COVID-19 positive in Manipur on Tuesday

Imphal: At least 98 more cases are being reported tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur in the last 24 hours, in which 64 infected persons do not have any travel history and 34 belong to the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Only one person from Tamenglong district is a returnee from another state who tested positive for the disease on Tuesday, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.

The total confirmed persons who were found tested positive for the coronavirus is 3,018, of which 1,814 infected people have recovered and 1,197 of them are receiving treatment at various hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centers.

The latest local transmitted cases with no travel history are reported from the districts of Imphal West (25), Thoubal (23), Imphal East (8), Chandel (5) and Kakching (2).

However, no COVID-19 related death has been reported in the state in the last two days. Till date, the pandemic has claimed seven lives in the state.

Another 48 persons have been cured and accordingly discharged from the COVID-19 care centers of Meitram (8), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (3), RD Wing (12), Assam Rifles in Jiribam (17) and JNIMS (4).

As on August 4, the state’s total recovery rate for COVID-10 stands at 60.10 per cent.
