Kohima: Nagaland has recorded a new highest single day spike in the number of COVID-19 cases as 194 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. With the addition of the new cases, Nagaland has now crossed the 2,000-mark tally as the total number of confirmed cases soars to 2129.
According to health minister S Pangnyu Phom, the new cases were detected as positive out of 845 sample results that were tested. Out of the 194 fresh cases, 136 are from Dimapur, 36 are from Zunheboto and 22 are from Kohima.
The minister also informed that necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are put under self isolation. This is the fourth consecutive day that the number of new cases reported in a day is above the 100-mark.
“COVID-19 Update! 194 new +ve cases have been confirmed out of 845 samples tested. 136 from Dimapur, 36 from Zunheboto & 22 from Kohima. Necessary contact tracing have been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation,” Phom tweeted.
Dimapur district alone has so far reported a total of 1,019 positive cases out of which 845 are currently active cases. With the addition of the new cases, Zunheboto has 61 active cases out of 66 confirmed cases. Kohima district has reported a total of 534 positive cases out of which 395 are active cases.

One each from Kohima and Dimapur have migrated to Rajasthan and Kerala. While six deaths have been reported from Dimapur, only four deaths are confirmed as due to COVID-19. One death is COVID-19 positive but not due to Covid-19. One death had co-morbidities and tested COVID-19 positive and the cause of death is still under investigation.
