Guwahati: A documentary ‘Wildlife- Our Lifeblood’ by Naresh Glow on a community reserve forest in Arunachal Pradesh has been able to draw attention globally.
The 29-minute documentary on Singchung Bugun Village Community Reserve (SBVCR) has got two nominations for best film and best director category at the 15th International Wildlife Conservation Documentary Film Festival (IWCDFF) in Paris and it has also been selected for screening at the 13th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Fest 2020 (KLEFF2020).

‘Wildlife- Our Lifeblood’ is the only Indian documentary to be nominated at the Paris festival. And it’s one of the three films from India to be screened in the Kuala Lumpur festival.
“It’s definitely a boost for me as a filmmaker as my film will be watched by a wider section of viewers. It will be discussed and that’s how my purpose of making a film on the community and the reserve forest will be served. I’m so happy that my first film is getting such a positive response in Asia and Europe,” Naresh told EastMojo.

The documentary tells how the SBVCR — a 17-square kilometre hotspot for biodiversity in Tenga valley in West Kameng district, came into existence and the contribution of the Bugun community people in wildlife conservation. The reserve, which was set up in 2017, is situated next to the Eaglesnest Wildlife sanctuary, another biodiversity hotspot which is the home to the Bugun Liocichla.
The bird species was first spotted at the locality in 1996 by a birdwatcher and an astronomer Ramana Athreya which was recognised as a new species in 2006. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classifies it as Critically Endangered (CR).
Naresh who is also one of the founders and chief patrons of SBVRC tries to capture the entire process in the documentary.
The 15h edition of International Wildlife Conservation Documentary Film Festival (IWCDFF) 2020 will be held from December 1 to 7 at Café de la Gare in Paris in association with European Film Council (EFC), World Documentary Forum (WDF) and Cultural affairs of Paris.
While, the KLEFF 2020 which is slated to start from October 8 to 11 will be screening 53 films via its digital screening platform, KLEFFlix during the virtual festival week.
