Out of 6 reported deaths, 4 are confirmed, one is not related to COVID-19 and one is under investigation

Kohima: Five more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday evening, taking the state’s tally to 1,566. A total of 53 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state on Thursday.

The five new cases of COVID-19 were reported from Mokokchung. As reported, out of the 48 new cases reported during the day, 32 are from Dimapur and 16 are from Kohima.

The addition of the 53 new cases has increased the total number of active cases to 1,566. However, 30 new recovered cases of COVID-19 were also reported increasing the number of recovered cases to 625.

One more death has been reported in the state. As per an update from the health and family welfare, the deceased person had co-morbidities and tested Covid-19 positive, and the case is under investigation.

So far, Nagaland reported six deaths out of which four are confirmed as due to COVID-19, one death is positive but not COVID-19 related death and one death is positive but cause of death is still under investigation. All deaths are reported from Dimapur.

Meanwhile, out of the 30 new recovered cases, 29 are from Mon and one is from Longleng. With that, Longleng district has become a covid free district as all three confirmed cases reported in the district are recovered cases.

Confirmed: 1566

Active: 935

Recovered: 625

Death: 4*

*One death is COVID-19 positive but not due to Covid-19. Another death had co-morbidities & tested Covid-19 positive, and cause of death is under investigation.

As per the severity of symptoms, all the 935 active cases are asymptomatic.

Till date, a total of 23,703 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 21,507 samples have been received. Out of the 16,513 samples received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), a total of 14,471 samples have been tested and 1,071 samples have tested positive.

In addition, a total of 15,895 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat. A total of 2,502 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine, informed Principal Secretary Home.
