“We have seen how justice has been delayed in the past. In the case of Nirbhaya, it took more than seven years to deliver justice since the law has its own role. A section of people are playing nasty politics on crime against women”, Goswami said.

She also said that during the visit of the TCW delegation, they found some workers of a political party at the house of the victim.

“The political leaders have the tendency to hold the state government responsible for all the crime against women. Why can’t we come together and fight against the crime rather than playing blame games? All the stakeholders must join hands in fighting against such crime together”, Goswami added.

Reacting to the incident, Deb Barman said, “Rape is one of the most heinous crimes in society, and I appeal to the authorities that strict action must be taken against these criminals. A fast track court should also be instituted so that there is no delay in punishment. Finally, a rapist has no religion, ethnicity or tribe a rapist is someone who will not spare even their family member and those trying to defend them on such basis should remember this.”

“I have spoken to the victim and assured her full help. I appeal to the authorities that a fast track court should also be instituted so that there is no delay in punishment. A rapist has no religion, ethnicity and is someone who will not spare even their family member.#Tripura,” he wrote.
