New Delhi: Actor Sonu Sood has been the silver lining for many during the COVID-19 crisis and the problems surfacing due to its consecutive lockdowns. This time, the actor has helped a 26-year-old techie find a new job after she was forced to sell vegetables when the lockdown took her old job away.
Unadadi Sharada from Hyderabad was an employee of an MNC Virtusa Corp but lost her job during the novel coronavirus crisis. These lockdowns have triggered an economic slowdown in the entire nation which has led to thousands of losing their jobs. Her company was unable to provide salary and even could not find a project for her to work on.
Back home, Sharada did not lose hope and to help herself and her family out of the financial crisis, she started selling vegetables at a local market. She said that there was no shame in this new work of hers as it’s an honest day’s work. Every morning she wakes up at 4 am and goes to the wholesale market to get the vegetables. She then sells them to make a living.
After her story went viral on social media, a Twitter user Ritchie Shelson tagged Sood and asked his help. He wrote, “Dear @SonuSood sir, She’s Sharada, techie who recently got fired from @VirtusaCorp Hyd amid Covid crisis. Without giving up, She’s selling vegetables to support her family & surviving. Please see if you could support her in anyways. Hope you’ll revert sir,” on July 26.
The very next day the actor tweeted that his officials have already met her and an interview was also conducted. After that, a job letter was also sent to Sharada. “My official met her. Interview done. Job letter already sent. Jai hind,” he wrote.
The actor has been going out of his way to help many migrant workers who require help during the times of the COVID-19 crisis. He even started an initiative in July, Pravasi Rojgar whose sole aim is to help millions of jobless migrant workers find a steady source of livelihood.
