Imphal: With the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Manipur, the state government continued to put maximum efforts by initiating various measures and steps to tackle the health crisis, including inclusion of more beds to treat coronavirus patients.
On Tuesday, health minister L Jayantakumar Singh along with health director Dr K Rajo inspected the preparation of the 300-bedded COVID-19 Care Center at Manipur Trade and Expo Center Lamboi Khongnangkhong in Imphal East district.
“I am happy to inform you all that the center will be completed within three days,” said minister Jayantakumar.
According to reports, this is one of the four new COVID-19 Care Centers to be set up in the state, in addition to the 13 centers which are already functioning.
The other three centers under process are at State TB Hospital, Keirao Wangkhem in Imphal East, Model School, Harinagar in Jiribam and Kangpokpi districts.
A new 300 bedded COVID care centre at Manipur Trade and Expo Center Lamboikhongnangkhong will be ready within 3 days.

Since May, the state has been witnessing a huge number of reverse migration from other states amid the lockdown and most COVID-19 cases are being detected from the returnees.

Moreover, though the recovery patients have surpassed the number of active cases in the last few weeks, more people stranded in metro cities are expected to return home.
At present, the COVID-19 Care Center at UNACCO School, Meitram has 350 beds, RD Wing Lamphelpat with 100 beds; JNIMS Training School in Thoubal has 100 beds capacity, district hospital Bishnupur with 32 beds, Padma Ratna English School in Kakching has 50 beds and sub-district hospital at Moreh has 20 beds.
In the hill districts, 100-bedded centre has been set up each at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, TK Woodland Resort in Ukhrul and DEIC Senapati, wherein JNV School in Chandel has 55 beds, NIELIT Churachandpur has 50 beds, Tribal Boys Hostel in Noney has 20 and Kamjong with 15 beds.

With the new COVID-19 Care Centers gets functional, the state will have around 1,400 beds in total to treat the coronavirus patients.

On Monday, at least 24 people, including 18 from Thoubal, with no immediate travel history were among the 51 fresh cases detected in the state, taking the total confirmed cases to 2,286.
The accumulative active cases in the state are 727 and recovered persons have increased to 1,559.
